We have a trip booked for late summer. We arrive at Gatwick in the morning and have four nights before taking the Caledonian Sleeper to Edinburgh.
We are a family of four (two adults and two teenage boys). We originally planned on staying in London, but the boys really want to try somewhere new. We have previously stayed in London and Bath.
We really like history – Roman ruins, castles, etc. We also love historic villages.
The one catch is that we have to be back in London on day five to catch the train.
Any thoughts on a nice place to base ourselves out of for those four nights?
