Kadiyanlena Falls is situated in Nawalapitiya, a town close to Kandy. It stands at a height of 25 meters. The name of the waterfall is derived from the name of the village it is situated in. It is also called “Ketabula Ella” which is derived from the name of the tea estate nearby.

Kadiyanlena Falls consists of three cascades. The top most segment of the fall is 8 meters in height and is sometimes accepted as the height of the Kadiyanlena Falls. All three segments together are 25 meters in height. It is located in Kadiyanlena village close to the Nawalapitiya town.

Getting to Kadiyanlena Falls

From Kandy take the Kandy Road and go past Peradeniya, Daulagala, Gampola and Ulapane until Nawalapitiya. Travel about 10 km down the Nawalapitiya – Kothmale Road to reach the Kadiyanlena Falls.

Distance from Kandy – 46.6 km (1 hour 18 minutes)

This is located in Kadiyanlena, a trivial village closer to Nawalapitiya on the Talawakele road. Even from the beginning of the journey gives the opportunity to witness many other delectable waterfalls and the aroma of unspoiled natural vicinity.

To the astonishment of the visitors, the fall cascaded down in three phases in three separate locations where each part is easily accessible creating clean natural pools. The first segment falls in a single stream having around 8 meters in height which is the deepest level. Then the waterfalls to the second and the third pool giving a mesmerizing outlook and the arc bridge built couples the elegance.  The water is gushing over the rocks making the bliss pool at the bottom cool and fresh which refreshes your body merely at the sight of it and the water here is crystal clear.

How to reach Kadiyanlena Falls

Kadiyanlena falls located in Kataboola Estate, 10km away from Nawalapitiya, 46.6km away from Kandy (1 hour 18 minutes) thus this waterfall is also called Kataboola Falls. This water stream is one of the border which divide two districts in Sri Lanka as Nuwaraeliya & Kandy. The milestone N7 nearby the bridge indicates so. The footpath is also beginning from there to reach the top.
