MY TRAVEL EXPERIENCE IN COX’S BAZAR, BANGLADESH

Hello, Its been quite sometime that I have thought of writing some travel blogs out of curiosity but never found anything to write about. I got busy into my professional life, could not make time to plan. Previously I used to travel a lot with friends, family and even alone. But its been some years that I ran after making money.

I am an avid lover of hills & always prefer mountains over beaches, but after researching on internet to choose the place, I thought this time why not plan for some non-preference one. Being born & brought up in Kolkata, when thinking of beaches, the first one comes in mind is ‘Digha’ then ‘Puri’. These are the most visited beaches in West Bengal & Orissa respectively. Then I thought to add some spices into my journey and zeroed down to visit the longest unbroken sea beach of the world “Cox’s Bazar’, Bangladesh. I should write this blog way before. Its actually not an informative travel blog, rather an experience sharing piece. Here I will more describe the beauty of Cox’s Bazar sea beach and adjacent areas. This is part of my Bangladesh travel experience. This journey will speak about Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar-Dhaka journey.

Visa Arrangement:

For tourist visa, from Kolkata you have to fill and submit online visa application form available on their Deputy High Commission’s website http://bdhc-kolkata.org/

Journey Start:

By the time I started my journey for Cox’s Bazar, I have visited some of the places in Dhaka & gathered pretty good experience in my bag and that will be shared in my other blog. From Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar AC and non AC buses are available throughout the day. All major bus operators have their booking counter in Arambagh/Motijheel. Train and Flight are also available. I took the bus service and believe me the journey was outstanding. I had boarded the AC bust at night and reached Cox’s Bazar the next day morning. Don’t worry there will be stop/halt in between the journey so that if any traveller wants to get food or freshen up they can do that easily.

Day-1 Cox’s Bazar

Well, now I better write a small introduction about the place, those who want a detailed report, Wikipedia is there.

Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh is a city in Chittagong. The beach in Cox’s Bazar is an unbroken 120 km (75 mi) sandy sea beach with a gentle slope, and is the world’s longest. It is located 150 km (93 mi) south of the industrial port Chittagong. Cox’s Bazar is also known by the name Panowa, whose literal translation means “yellow flower.” Its other old name was “Palongkee”.
